In order to succeed, the Knicks NEED a point guard (even though we’ll probably be okay when Baron Davis is available). I wanted to play GM and see how the Knicks would fair if they were to make a trade for a superstar point guard who may be available if the team doesn’t improve. I think you know who I’m talking about, no, not Nash…yes…Deron Williams. So, I put together a trade involving three teams: Knicks, Nets and the Warriors with the assistance of ESPN’s Trade Machine. See below:

As you can see, some of the featured players are Amare Stoudemire and Monta Ellis to the Nets, Deron to the Knicks, and Brook Lopez and rookie, Marshon Brooks to the Warriors. Let’s starts with the Knicks: Getting Deron will make us a MUCH better team. We will have a young floor general for years to come teaming up with Melo and Tyson. Yes, Amare would be missed, but we have Tyson and I feel he can fill in for Amare, working the pick and rolls. Just imagine a trio of Melo, Deron and Tyson. That would be a heck of a team.

As for the Nets, they will have two superstars in Amare and Monta; not a bad duo and they would represent the team in Brooklyn. Plus Amare gets to team up with his boy, ex-Knick, Shawne Williams.

Finally, the Golden State Warriors will have a low post player in Brook Lopez and a solid rookie Marshon Brooks who has a lot of potential. The team would be well-balanced with Curry leading the way.

The Knicks need a point guard in the worst way. We hoped to get Cp3 and that fell through; however, we possibly have another shot at a superstar point guard and he is, Deron Williams. Lets go get him! Any thoughts?

The Knicks have announced a home and home preseason matchup against the New Jersey Nets. On December 17th the Knicks will visit the Prudential Center and on December 21st the Nets will visit MSG.

The abbreviated pres season schedule will take place in time to prepare the Knicks for their season and home opener against the Boston Celtics on Christmas day. The Christmas day matchup was preserved from the original schedule and will be a rematch of last year’s first round playoff series between the two teams. (more…)
