On NBAPlaybook.com, Sebastian Pruiti writes and diagrams how The Knicks Use Defense To Get A Win:
The title of this post isn’t a joke, as one would assume. The Knicks were up by 1 with the ball and about 20 seconds left, but they turned it over. The Hawks were now breaking down the court with the chance for a win. How did the Knicks stop them? Let’s look:
Wilson Chandler meets Josh Smith at the top of his dunk attempt and gets the block. Now, his physical ability is what allowed him to get the block, [...]

This year the Atlanta Hawks picked up former Knick Jamal Crawford, who is second on the team in scoring and is the likely winner of the Sixth Man Of The Year Award for the most valuable player off the bench. In addition, their should-be-All-Star power forward, Josh Smith, aka JSmoove, has taken his game to the next level by no longer settling for hoisting up three-pointers, thus greatly improving his field goal percentage (& shot selection). As a result, the Hawks have taken that next step to where they’re almost up there with the big boys in the league. No [...]
Maybe all the cold weather in New York this year has made the Knicks think it’s still Christmas, ‘cuz they’ve been non-stop giving out the gift of victories to any team that comes near them. The New Jersey Nets, who had won only 6 our of 61 games, were on a path to be the team with the worst record in NBA history. The previous record low is only 9 games (out of an 82 game season) held by Washington in like 1982 or something (their leading scorer was Fred Carter). If the Nets kept at that 6 of [...]
Wow, the Pistons came out last night with less energy than a tortoise high on Madame Mary Jane. I was offended ‘cuz I thought they were mimicking & mocking us. Until I realized that they possess that wondrous ability to play basketball while half-asleep, which I thought was a unique New York talent. Okay, okay, we actually won, so I probably shouldn’t use this as a chance to give the Knicks a front-handed insult. So let’s accentuate the positive, ‘cuz the Boys In Blue (& Orange) did have moments where they played really well.
Wilson Chandler missed his second game, er [...]
First, considering the amount of effort the Knicks put into last night’s game, I’m not gonna put much effort into talking about it. After all, my Momma always taught me that two wrongs make a right. Or was it that when the going gets tough, just pretend it never happened? I forget, but it was an important lesson.
For those who don’t know, the Cleveland Cavaliers’ center, a large man by the name of Shaquille O’Neal, had surgery on his finger which is causing him to miss the next month or so. In addition they traded away their back-up 7+ footer, [...]
The Knicks did a really odd thing on Friday night: they won. I know, I know, I wasn’t sure what it was at first ‘cuz it’d been so long since I’d last seen it happen. But then I realized the happy looks on their faces looked awful similar to how our opponents tend to appear after they play us. We beat the Washington Wizards in overtime (oddly, that night four different games went into overtime). While the Wizards have sucked most of the season (I believe the last game we won, 10 games ago, was against them), they actually have [...]
Frank Isola, of the NY Daily News, is bitter that Coach Mike D’Antoni had a snippy response when asked a legit question. They both seem a bit thin-skinned in the article (I’ve excluded the parts where Isola makes jabs about how much D’Antoni gets paid). The key thing to note though, is like reader Paul pointed out, D’Antoni’s honeymoon period seems to be ending:
Mike D’Antoni finally showed his infamous sensitive side which we’ve heard so much about – via coaches, players and fellow media members – prior to Saturday’s pounding at the hands of Zach Randolph and the Memphis Grizzlies.
D’Antoni [...]
No, not just to visit, but to join the team. This has been and will continue to be over-analyzed non-stop through the summer. There’s been an article about how LeBron James, Dwayne Wade, and Chris Bosh should give up some salary to form a “Dream Team Jr.” in NYC and they’d make more than enough in endorsements to cover those losses. Yeah right, keep dreaming. This article describes how Toronto could lose Bosh due to bball’s second-class status next to hockey (at a recent Toronto Raptors’ home game all the locals in attendance were secretly watching & cheering a Canadian [...]
Today we once again leave our insular Knick world to check in on some comings, goings, and idlings around the league:
–To Be Filed Under “And You Thought Jordan Hill Was A Bad Draft Pick”
When Brandon Jennings, the #10 pick in this last year’s draft, started showing he’s fo’ real, everyone bitched about the Knicks not snagging him with their #8 pick. ‘Course that means 9 other teams passed on him too, so it’s not like NYC was the only one who misjudged him. And with #1 pick Blake Griffin injured and unable to play a single minute this season, really [...]
