Carmelo Anthony shouldn’t be fooled by Lakers fantasy script

With the game of musical chairs now playing in free agency, the question remains where will Carmelo Anthony be when the music stops playing, New York or the Los Angeles Lakers?

But before you decide Carmelo you need to ask yourself a few questions.

Why with all his rings is Kobe Bryant alone in LA?

This is a team with literally no players. Steve Nash at 40, with a bad back will be lucky to make it through the season. Kobe? Well, his legs just aren’t what they used to be.  While everyone wants to play with LeBron James, no one is rushing to LA.

Yesterday, Anthony spent some quality time shooting hoops with Bryant. Josh Rebholz, UCLA’s Senior Associate Athletic Director for External Relations responded to rumors that Anthony and Bryant were playing a pickup game together on the Bruins’ campus via his Twitter account.

Kobe and the Lakers are an aging team with no coach, no system, and no identity.

Carmelo, just ask Shaquille O’Neal what Kobe would be like if you signed. Bryant is not Dwyane Wade. He will not toss the baton to you. This is his team and all he wants to do is use you.  He is in the twilight of his career, surrounded by no one, coachless, playerless.  LA, will not compete next year, with or without Pau Gasol, who would even consider leaving LA, leaving Kobe, to join you and Phil Jackson.

Carmelo what does that tell you?  How many rings did Kobe Bryant win without Phil Jackson? If you answered zero, you are correct.

The Lakers’ pitch of teaming Anthony with Kobe, Gasol and rookie Julius Randle on a team with no long-term salary obligations — made what one source described as a “strong impression” on Anthony.

Carmelo, look at the facts, Randle has a bad foot, Kobe a bad knee and rehabbed Achilles, Nash a bad back and Gasol has yet to sign. Compound this by a team still having no coach. No Triangle offense to make you shine.  It’s time you accept being the man and have players follow you, or you’ll end up like Kobe.

This is not a movie, don’t get caught in their fantasy.

New York is your town.  .New York is your team. Anthony’s team, and you need to man up and finish what you started. Going to LA would make you look like a mercenary, you will be known as a complementary star to Kobe.

In New York, you are the heart and soul of the team, and you’d be remembered as such. A championship in New York will finish your legacy, to lose in LA will destroy it.

Only in New York can you earn a ticker tape parade, the greatest city for the greatest player.  Everyone has left LA, why would you want to go there?

New York turns men into Gods. Just ask Joe Namath, Bill Parcels, Derek Jeter, Walt Frazier and Willis Reed.

It is your turn. It is your town.

Just do the right thing and finish what you started.

See you at the parade.

Seriously why the Lakers? Have you looked at the history of the stars that were the face of the franchise? Jerry West, Kareem, Magic Johnson, Shaq, and Kobe. Even if you look at the 2nd tier stars, Byron Scott, Rambis, James Worthy, Rick Fox, Mitch Kupchak, even freakin’ Luke Walton has a job after basketball. Lakers take care of their own.
