Although the trade deadline has come and gone, there is still one move, one trade the New York Knicks can make to save the season. That would be trading Tim Hardaway Jr.’s place in the second unit and putting him in the starting five. If given the chance, we may witness TIMSANITY as his presence and offensive skill is that missing dynamic the Knicks have been looking for all season. Timsanity is what New York needs and what the Knicks have desperately been needing, a gift from the basketball Gods to alter their season. Now it is time for nature and talent to take its course. Now is the time for the birth of Timsanity.

All season long, when given the opportunity, Hardaway Jr. has proven he belongs on the floor. It is Woodson’s reticence to play or develop rookies that cost him his job in Atlanta. Now with Iman Shumpert out two weeks, the coach can easily make this move. However, Woodson, staying to his true form, will probably start J.R. Smith tonight in Orlando. This makes little to no sense.

1. Smith has not played well when he has started this season
2. His natural position is the two guard
3. He plays better when he comes off the bench
4. Hardaway Jr. is taller and better suited for the wing.

Hardaway Jr. impressed everyone with his play during the All Star break. He continued his outstanding play in limited minutes against Memphis and New Orlenas the other night. Woodson needs to let this bird fly, not chop his wings as he has done with Shumpert. Yes, Carmelo Anthony willed the win in New Orleans, but without Hardaway’s exceptional play and three-point shooting, the Knicks and Anthony would not have been in a position to win. This kid can play and Woodson needs to play him.

Let’s face the facts, it was Hardaway and his unique skill set that made Shumpert expendable. As I stated from the first day I watched this young man in Vegas, he is the real deal. He is young, but mature beyond his years.

Now, Woodson, start the kid — allow him to build confidence, to gain rhythm and momentum on the floor. Once this happens, my friends, we can sit back and marvel at TIMSANITY. He will change not only the season, but offer the Knicks’ offense a reliable offensive player they so desperately need to complement Anthony on a nightly basis. So Coach do the right thing and Tim up.
