With the NBA Trade Deadline approaching, there are all sorts of rumors being thrown around in the basketball world. Most of the rumors that are being heard surround the New York Knicks. Here are some of the latest rumors around the NBA that have been making the news:
New York Knicks Once Again Targeting Lowry
The New York Knicks are again interested in Kyle Lowry. There has recently been rumors of a three team trade that may be close to a done deal and it involves the Raptors, Knicks, and Hawks. In the reported deal here is who would end up where:
Knicks Would Receive:
G, Kyle Lowry
Raptors Would Receive:
G, Jeff Teague
Hawks Would Receive:
The Brooklyn Nets are interested in acquiring Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Jarrett Jack and have had discussions about a potential trade involving Jason Terry, according to sources briefed on the talks
Sources also told ESPN.com that the Nets, eager to add a proven ball handler and backcourt scorer to their bench rotation, are willing to take on the two remaining guaranteed seasons worth in excess of $12 million left on Jack’s contract despite the luxury-tax implications
Thunder Pursuing A “Shooter”
Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports, reports that the Thunder are pursuing a wing shooter to help contribute to the second unit and hopefully put the team over the top in its title hunt. Jeremy Lamb and Thabo Sefolosha both bring ranginess to the defensive side of the ball, but they are not hitting consistently enough from downtown to space the floor effectively around Kevin Durant.
With guys like Milwaukee Bucks’ guard Gary Neal available, they will definitely be involved in talks to get that shooter they’ve been looking for.
Sixers Looking to Trade for Draft Picks
According to Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer, the Sixers are hunting for first-rounders—lottery picks if possible—for Evan Turner, Thaddeus Young and Spencer Hawes, which could be deflating the market for their services.
They may end up finding a team who could use Turner, who has a ton of potential and can definitely score, but on the defensive side he is more of a liability. Young is a very athletic forward who can rebound and attack the basket. Hawes is a big man with great touch from mid to long range. If they find the right team a deal can be made since these guys have so much talent and potential. It may not be a high pick, but they are capable of landing a pick in the 13-16 range.
With the deadline approaching rapidly, the rumors will continue to surface. Some people believe it will be a quiet year for trades which it definitely has thus far this season, but with this upcoming bonanza of free agency fans must expect to see some moves being made very soon.
