NBA Trade Rumors: Knicks again after Kyle Lowry

NBA Trade Rumors are swirling, especially when it pertains to the New York Knicks.

We are now eight days and counting until the NBA Trade Deadline comes and goes and the Knicks look to be very active.

Our Scott Davis reported the news yesterday of the Knicks trying to rekindle the talks with the Denver Nuggets concerning the proposed Iman Shumpert-Kenneth Faried swap the team pursued earlier in the season.

That’s not the only old proposed deal they are trying to cook up again.

The Knicks are once again interested in Toronto Raptors point guard Kyle Lowry after opting not to trade for the Raptors point guard two months ago, according to Frank Isola of the New York Daily News.

The earlier deal that had reportedly been vetoed by Knicks owner James Dolan initially involved Raymond FeltonMetta World Peace, and a 2018 first round pick in exchange for Lowry.

With Toronto currently leading the Atlantic Division, they may be less likely to pull the trigger on a deal for their point guard, who should be an All-Star, than they would have earlier in the season.

However, TNT’s David Aldridge, the Raptors aren’t currently willing to pay top dollar this summer to retain Lowry for the long-term once he hits free agency.

Common opinion is that the Raptors would have to be overwhelmed with an offer to move Lowry and the early proposal of Felton and MWP likely won’t get it done.

The Raptors also had interest in Shumpert and Tim Hardaway Jr. when the initial trade was reported.

In another report, it was said that Toronto eventually requested Hardaway Jr. and a 2018 first round pick along with Felton in exchange for Lowry.

That’s something the Knicks likely wouldn’t do and while they are shopping Shump, which likely won’t get a deal done as his trade value is almost as low as it can get at the moment.

The Knicks had a chance to move Shump while his value was high and chose not to. The same way they had a chance to steal Lowry from Toronto for a lousy point guard, an aging forward and a first round pick four years from now.

It makes sense for the Knicks to pursue Lowry and pretty much every other point guard in the NBA.

But in all likelihood, their window has already closed on Lowry, something that Dolan should be criticized for.
