The New York Knicks are a few hours from tip off in Madison Square Garden against the Philadelphia 76ers. Interestingly, a little over a week ago, the Knicks’ eight-game home stand seemed like a blessing. Having won five games in a row and six of their last seven, the Knicks appeared to be turning a corner in the new year.

However, since then, the Knicks have lost four games in a row, including three blowout losses in their past three games. Now, with six games remaining in this home stand, the coming week seems pivotal to both this current group of Knicks and the franchise’s near future.

With that in mind, here are some good reads on the Knicks’ current calamity and some ideas on their future.

- Many of us scoffed at the ESPN SCHOENE projection that the Knicks would win 37 games this season. Now it doesn’t seem so silly. Ian Begley revisited the idea and whether the Knicks can even win 37 games.

- There’s been a few locker room spats this season and some players have seemed to disagree with Mike Woodson’s coaching. Luckily, Mike Woodson won’t kick anyone to the curb, via Seth Rosenthal.

- Raymond Felton is apparently good for the Knicks when Raymond Felton is good.

- The Knicks don’t possess a single player on the top-25-drivers in the NBA list. That isn’t good.

- There’s a lot of focus on Carmelo Anthony and his future with the Knicks, and some good takes on the subject have come out. Tommy Beer of the newly formed Basketball Insiders discussed the end of the ‘Melo era, weighing the pros and cons of letting Anthony go. A good solid overview. John Schmeelk seems to think Anthony is as good as gone, so the Knicks should act on such a notion.

- Speaking of ‘Melo leaving, this bunny would apparently be upset if he left. I like this bunny.

- Finally, a cool look from the Times about the inside workings of the MSG’s celebrity image. These types of articles are the things that remind you that the New York Knicks and Madison Square Garden are very much businesses, so basketball isn’t necessarily the main focus all the time.
