New York Knicks’ center Tyson Chandler recently was one of several ambassadors as the NBA’s FIT Live Healthy Week began.
He joined celebrity chefs, community members and partners in highlighting the importance of healthy living through three simple pillars: be active, eat healthy and play together.
NBA/WNBA FIT is the league’s comprehensive health and wellness program that encourages physical activity and healthy living, with an emphasis on being active, eating healthy and playing together.
Chandler joined the likes of: Stephen Curry (Golden State Warriors), Tyson Chandler, Al Horford (Atlanta Hawks), Ryan Anderson (New Orleans Pelicans), Brandon Bass (Boston Celtics), Wes Matthews (Portland Trail Blazers), Otto Porter (Washington Wizards), Greivis Vazquez (Toronto Raptors) and WNBA players Tamika Catchings, Nneka Ogwumike and Cappie Pondexter.
If you are interested about learning more, here is part of a press release sent to me by NBA Coordinator of Marketing Communications, Chantal E. Romain.
Fans are encouraged to log on to NBA.com/NBAFIT to get fitness tips from NBA players and trainers, view player workout videos and check out healthy recipes from celebrity chefs and personalities Rachael Ray, Mario Batali, Marc Forgione, Dale Talde, Roblé Ali, Bill Telepan, Candice Kumaiand and Ali Maffucci.
In an effort to encourage healthy eating, the league will team up with Walmart to launch NBA FIT Food with the first offering to feature oranges with NBA FIT-branded stickers and bags that will be on display at more than 3,600 Walmart stores across the United States.
As part of NBA FIT Live Healthy Week, the NBA will engage fans on Facebook and Twitter with the NBA FIT Challenge, encouraging schools and students to sign up for First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move! Active Schools program. Schools can learn more about the program and sign up to enter the challenge to win great NBA FIT prizes at www.letsmoveschools.org. All registered schools will be eligible to win NBA FIT prizes.
Chandler has always been one to give back to the community and it’s nice to see him taking part in the event.
