Knicks Still Struggling
Not many people expected the New York Knicks to be struggling as bad as they are this season. In fact, expectations for them this season were exceptionally high since they went out and added more talent to the already deep roster.
Adding players like Andrea Bargnani, Metta World Peace, Beno Udrih, and drafting Tim Hardaway Jr. you would think they would be looking like one of the top teams if not in the league at the very least one of the best in the Eastern Conference.
So far, that is not the case and fans are already becoming distraught and disappointed.
The Knicks are 3-7 after last night’s road loss in Detroit 92-86. Also, so far on the season and they are 1-5 at Madison Square Garden.
It just seems as if the Knicks lack effort and their defense is almost non-existent which is weird since defense is head coach Mike Woodson‘s strength. There has been a lot of talk regarding the possibility of the Knicks taking trade offers for Iman Shumpert, Amare’ Stoudemire, and Raymond Felton, but so far they are just rumors.
It is important to keep in mind that it is indeed early in the season and the Knicks have plenty of time to change things around.
Blazers Continue To Impress
The Portland Trail Blazers are on a hot streak to start the season with an impressive start at 9-2 and currently have the second best record in the Western Conference behind the Spurs who are 9-1. The Blazers are on a seven-game winning streak which is Portland’s longest winning-streak since December of 2007, when they put together a 13-game run.
Head coach Terry Stotts has this young team looking much more improved from last season, but maybe that is because Lamarcus Aldridge is healthy and is producing at a very high level this season.
Obviously, the biggest reason for their early success has to go to star guard Damian Lillard who is averaging 20 ppg, 6.1 apg, and 4.5 rpg which is quite impressive for a point guard.
If this team can stay healthy, which has been an issue for the past few years; they can be end up being very tough to beat down the road and will become one of the surprise/breakout teams in the league.
