Carmelo Anthony becoming frustrated with officiating

New York Knicks superstar Carmelo Anthony is a frustrated player at the moment and that frustration is starting to boil over and it is aimed at the NBA officials.

Melo was very upset that Houston Rockets star James Harden went to the line 18 times Thursday night and Anthony made only 11 trips to the charity stripe.

Anthony told the Associated Press following the Knicks loss:

“We didn’t put him on the line, they put him on the line.”

He also showed his frustration by saying:

“You look at that, you see the way that some guys get their calls,” Anthony said, “and for me, I’ve got to get cut, you’ve got to see blood for me to get a call down there. So that’s where the frustration comes from.”

This pretty much sounds like Anthony crying and complaining.

It’s not as if Melo isn’t getting to the line. He’s still tied for ninth in the NBA, making an average of 6.9 trips per game. That number is down from the 7.6 attempts per game he made last season, but in the last eight years he has only gotten to the line more than eight times per game twice in a season.

It’s the same old story that when you settle for jump shots, you aren’t going to get a ton of calls.

As you can see by his shot chart this season, the majority of Melo’s attempt come from outside of the paint, a place where Harden got a ton of calls last night because he was aggressive taking the ball to the basket.

Sadly, Anthony doesn’t have much of a complaint here.

If he is complaining about not getting the continuation call last night, he doesn’t have much of a beef either. Unfortunately for him it was the correct call.

If Melo wants to get to the free-throw line more often, it’s as simple as taking the ball to  the basket more often.

Otherwise, he’s just crying about nothing.

Lol you can not definitively say this guy doesn’t have a basis for his claim and just is “crying and complaining”. Mostly because of the chicken or egg argument, you can say that he takes those outside shots BECAUSE of the calls he isn’t receiving when driving. It possibly lends itself to a certain mentality.
