There have been no shortage of critics in response to J.R. Smith’s younger brother, Chris Smith, being given a spot on the Knicks opening day roster. In a move viewed by most as a blatant act of nepotism on behalf of the Knicks, the criticisms up to this point have mostly come from fans and media members.
But now, even some around the league have decided to weigh in on what is viewed by players as a disrespect to those far more deserving of an NBA roster spot. Leading us to the recent Twitter beef between J.R Smith and Detroit Pistons point guard Brandon Jennings.
Starting the war of words was a tweet sent by Jennings on Wednesday, that has since been deleted.
“Wait wait wait JR smith brother is in the NBA but @PoohJeter & @BBROWNLAU isn’t. Call me hater but not Rollin!!!”
After being made aware of the tweet J.R responded with ferocity:
J.R. quickly followed up the tweet with another, cause you know, 140 characters just never seems to be enough:
Eventually Brandon Jennings got word of what was going down and responded to J.R’s onslaught:
As you would guess J.R didn’t waste anytime with a response:
Smith followed up the tweet, with another more threatening tweet directed at Jennings which Smith then quickly deleted:
“Might call some of my Number street homies an put #Detroit on smash for a min! #DeadSerious”
We will definitely keep you updated on any further developments in the J.R. Smith Brandon Jennings Twitter beef. Given the timing of the last few tweets one must assume J.R. and Jennings put the war of words on hold to get some sleep, so who knows if we’ll see them pick it up again today.
What makes this cyber-battle even more intriguing is the fact that the Knicks square off with the Pistons next Tuesday in Detroit.
