2013-14 New York Knicks Tickets: Top 5 Games @ MSG

Last season ended in a disappointing 6-game loss to the lower seeded Indiana Pacers. However the Knicks did accomplish a few things that they will try and build on. They also enter the 2013-14 season with highest average secondary home ticket price in the NBA. Currently, the average for New York Knicks tickets at MSG this year is $321, 13% above the Lakers’ $285 average, which is second best in the league. That $321 price is also an 11% increase over their prices from this time last season. With that, let’s take a look at the top 5 most expensive games at MSG this year.

1) February 1, 2014 vs. Miami Heat – Avg. Price: $648 | Get-in Price: $184

In what should be a highly anticipated matchup between the defending champs, the Miami Heat and the New York Knicks, the turnstiles at Madison Square Garden will be spinning. These two powerhouses did not meet in last year’s playoffs but all four regular season meetings between the Knicks and Heat were electric. With the Knicks adding some grit as well as firepower to their roster this summer, this could very well be an Eastern Conference Finals matchup preview. The average price for this game is currently listed at $648, representing a 102% premium above the Knicks average ticket price. On the low end, tickets start at $184/seat, which is higher than the season average prices of all but 5 NBA teams. This is also the single most expensive game for the 2013-14 season across the entire league.

2) January 9, 2014 vs. Miami Heat – Avg. Price: $492 | Get-in Price: $140

The World Champion Miami Heat will make their first trip to New York to face the Knicks in January. This mid-season matchup will feature LeBron James and his championship team facing the New York Knicks. This game could act as a stepping-stone for what once was a bitter rivalry to spark up again in late spring. The average ticket price for this event is $492, which is 53% above the season average for New York Knicks tickets. The cheapest ticket currently on the market for this Knicks game is $140.

3) January 26, 2014 vs. Los Angeles Lakers – Avg. Price: $472 | Get-in Price: $134

In what usually is the hottest ticket of the season for the Knicks the LA Lakers make their lone visit. While recovering for a torn Achilles tendon it is unknown as to whether or not Kobe Bryant will play or not. If he is back and healthy expect ticket prices to skyrocket for this Knicks and Lakers showdown. Right now the average price for Knicks tickets against the Lakers is $472. This marks an increase of 47% above the season home average for Knicks tickets. Fans looking for Knicks tickets on the secondary market will find them at the lowest price of $134.

4) April 13, 2014 vs. Chicago Bulls – Avg. Price: $453 | Get-in Price: $108

In what has once again become one of the more heated rivalries in the Eastern Conference, the Chicago Bulls will visit Broadway in early April. Unlike last year, the Bulls will have their star point guard, Derrick Rose, back in uniform. Ticket prices for this one are 41% above the Knicks home average with a get-in price of $108, the lowest get-in price of any of the top 5 games at MSG.

5) January 20, 2014 vs. Brooklyn Nets – Avg. Price: $452 | Get-in Price: $112

The battle of New York will be at an all-time high this NBA season as the Brooklyn Nets make their first visit across the bridge to face the New York Knicks. Adding several pieces from the rival Boston Celtics will only make matters worse…or perhaps better for the secondary market value. Paul Pierce has predicted the Nets will take over New York and JR Smith has fired back with choice words of his own. To see the two square off live fans will be paying an average ticket price of $452 which is 41% above the Knicks home average. Get-in prices start at $133.
