Carmelo Anthony, like many Knicks, struggled through last night’s 105-95 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks. The Knicks could rarely find that typical offensive groove, partly due to Anthony’s 22 points on frigid 8-23 shooting last night. However, he did supply 9 rebounds and 7 assists and this awesome buzzer-beater to end the third quarter.
With the clock running down, Anthony went iso on poor, helpless Giannis Antetokounmpo. ‘Melo waved off Cole Aldrich for the screen, went back and forth through the legs, squared up, and launched. Of course, with the clock so low, Antetokounmpo should have known Anthony was about to rise and fire, but we’ll chalk it up to a rookie mistake. Anthony caught all nylon, and cut the Knicks’ deficit down to three.
The Knicks, after rallying to tie the game in the fourth quarter fell apart late. Anthony just couldn’t get in any groove for most of the night, and the defense couldn’t get the timely stops they needed.
The Knicks will close out the preseason on Friday night when they’ll take on the Charlotte Bobcats in New York, demonstrating the flashy new MSG renovations.
