Amar’e Stoudemire – Instant Offense

Stoudemire is one of the more interesting players on this Knicks squad. Due to his knees, he will only be able to play around 20 minutes per game to keep him healthy and not to further damage the knees. He will be coming off the bench, and due to STATS offensive game, he will be relied on to score around the basket and be able to get quick points when the Knicks offense is struggling.

That is why he is given the label as instant offense. He should be able to come off the bench and contribute right away, much like he did in the short stint during the regular season last year.

Metta World Peace – Defense Specialist

Metta World Peace was a big offensive signing for his big time defense. He can slow down the league’s elite scorers, and will be a huge benefit to the Knicks when they play a team like Oklahoma City with Kevin Durant, Miami with LeBron James, or the Brooklyn Nets with Paul Pierce.

He won’t stop them completely, but he can pressure them into taking tougher shots and tire them out for later in the game due to them having to work harder.

Andrea Bargnani – Floor Spacer

New acquisition Andrea Bargnani can score when he stays healthy. He can shoot from outside, mid-range and can drive to the basket.  Although he often struggles in the paint, he can finish when he’s at the top of his game. When he is scoring, he will create matchup problems due to him being a PF/C, he will bring big men out to the three-point line due to his scoring ability, freeing up the paint.

Also with him and Melo, those are two players who can shoot and finish, pressuring the defense into guarding both. This enables him to space the floor when he comes on a make it so that the Knicks have a better shot at making an opening by catching the defensive asleep.
