Iman Shumpert: Unhappy with the Knicks Offseason?

Iman Shumpert is the most energetic players on the New York Knicks. The 23 year-old is the Knicks most valuable player on the Knicks behind Carmelo Anthony, and is pivotal to the Knicks success next season and for seasons to come. Entering into his third season, Shumpert is emerging as a leader both in the locker room and on the court.

Respected Knicks beat writer of the Daily News Frank Isola, has said that Shumpert and the Knicks might not be on the same page:

“I guess the only question is if Metta expires before Shumpert, one of the few Knicks who has value. Dolan is reportedly upset that Shumpert wasn’t interested in working with the summer league team and wants to trade him. Shumpert, I’ve heard, isn’t too crazy about the moves the Knicks have made, which could further stunt his development.”

The moves Shumpert is referring to is the additions of Andrea Bargnani, Metta World Peace, & the re-signing of J.R. Smith. I don’t think this necessarily stunts the development of Shumpert since he is a two guard and guard positions 1-3, while Bargnani is a big man, and Metta will be called to guard bigger players.

Shump tweeted in response to the rumors that he is unhappy with the Knicks:

“Can we please DEAD these dumb ass rumors! I love my team as well as the new additions. I wanna win! #thatisall – Iman Shumpert”

Shumpert has loved the Knicks and embraced the city since the first day he was drafted. He created the trend #Knickstape and is a fan favorite. James Dolan sounds like an idiot when he says he wants to trade him. Unless it’s a legit scoring option, a Robin to Carmelo’s Batman, trading Shumpert would be foolish and I don’t think Glen Grunwald would seriously shop him around.

Shumpert is a team player but at the same time embracing a bigger role with the Knicks. He knows this team can win and will be one of the first players to welcome his new teammates to New York.
