Chris Copeland

Copeland’s emergence as a competent NBA player came slowly as he only played in 56 games in the regular season. He averaged 20 points and five rebounds per 36 minutes this year on 48 percent shooting from the field and 42 percent from three.

Production like that off the bench is not easily replicated. It is true that he was at times a horrible defender (and just bad at other times) but if you manage his minutes and keep some good defenders around him he can be a valuable cog off the bench. Like Prigioni, Copeland was passed over for much of the big playoff minutes despite not being in a horrible shooting funk. Copeland would be nice to retain but the Knicks inability to offer him any real money makes it unlikely that he will stay with the team

Prediction/Decision: He leaves for more money and years/Keep him

Kenyon Martin

Despite being a late addition to the Knicks, K-Mart made a big impact on the team. He provided a reliable presence at backup center and offered the rare ability to defend both bigger wings and big men at an above average level. He put up 10 points and eight rebounds per 36 minutes and did it on 60 percent shooting.

He did take a few too many bad mid-range jumpers at times but this was the Knicks so he was probably just trying to fit in. Overall I was pleasantly surprised with Martin and would like to see him return and I believe he will.

Prediction/Decision:Will come back on veterans minimum/Should be back on veterans minimum.
