Earlier in the week I wrote that New York Knicks forward Amar’e Stoudemire was targeting a Christmas return to the Knicks lineup.
Now who knows when Stoudemire will return as there are conflicting reports about exactly when STAT will be back.
ESPN’s Ian Begley noted that Stoudemire could be back sooner than expected.
Stoudemire went through shooting and conditioning drills on Tuesday before the Knicks flew to Charlotte for their game against the Bobcats, one of several recent workouts he has gone through as of late.
After the workout, Stoudemire wrote on Twitter that he’d “be back soon.”
However another reputable source in Frank Isola of the New York Daily News reported that even Christmas may be too optimistic.
Stoudemire told several friends with the Suns organization that reports that he’ll play Christmas Day against the Lakers are simply guesswork.
“He said he’s not ready to commit to that date,” said a Suns official. “How would he know today that he can play on Christmas? He doesn’t know if he’ll be ready by then.”
It’s really all about guessing when Stoudemire will return, especially since he who has not addressed his injury or granted interviews since he injured his knee.
However it’s good news to see STAT back on the floor working out and it is also great news to see the Knicks keep on winning without him in the lineup.
Whether it is a Christmas return or sometime early in 2013, Stoudemire is only going to make this Knicks team even better.
The most important thing is that he comes back at 100 percent.
