New York Knicks Waive Chris Smith

The New York Knicks made their first roster move Friday night when they waived point guard Chris Smith, the younger brother of Knicks’ swingman J.R. Smith.

The Louisville product has not played in any preseason games after he had surgery Oct. 11 to repair his left patella tendon.

The Knicks’ roster now stands at 19 players with the deadline to cut training camp invites on Monday.

Those cuts are pretty much no-brainers and likely will include Mychel Thompson, John Shurna, Henry Simsand Oscar Bellfield, with the final two guaranteed roster spots more than likely going to Chris Copeland and Rasheed Wallace.
