Now this is what I’m talking about. Hey Fansided.com I don’t want any media credentials for any games at the Garden. Screw that. Get me courtside seats at Dyckman Park smack in the middle of Washington Heights right next to James Harden and my boys Lloyd Banks, Jim Jones, and Juelz Santana. I’ll go to this stuff all day.
But seriously if some people are going to make a big deal about J.R. Smith taking to the courts at Dyckman, just stop.
We all learned to play true basketball at a park playing pick-up with our friends while calling our own fouls. Street ball is where you grow a set and get touch. How much street ball you think Andrea Bargnoni has played in his life? Picture him playing at Dyckman should make you start to chuckle. He would get destroyed. Now how much street ball you think Derrick Rose has played? Or Karl Malone down in Louisiana? I would bet any amount of money that this is where these players mastered their toughness and greatness.
Now I’m not saying that all Knicks players should just squad up and run the courts out in the City, but I’m not going to take the uptight route and get worried about injuries or anything like that. Let these guys live a little. They are going to play ball wherever so why not have a little fun. Smith must have been pounding everybody up and must have been a crowd favorite.
He is absolutely loving every second of New York. Have you seen the guy’s tweets? Smith is the most entertaining athlete by far, only to Metta World Peace who needs serious help.
The bottom line is that Smith is just a guy having fun and remembering his roots. There isn’t a thing wrong with that.
Keep running the courts JR, if you can slam if off the backboard in a NBA game, it was so worth it.
