The 2012 London Games won’t be the last opportunity that young Knicks fans will get the opportunity to see Carmelo Anthony on the basketball court before the 2012-13 NBA season begins.
The Carmelo Anthony Basketball ProCamp – aka Camp Melo will be making its way to the New York area for the first time.
Camp Melo is a youth instructional basketball camp featuring the New York Knicks forward, Olympic Gold Medalist and five-time All-Star.
Anthony has run his instructional camp in the Denver area since he got drafted in 2004. Camp Melo is a yearly staple for Anthony as the only year he didn’t host the camp was in 2011 when he was traded to the Knicks mid-season.
Now, young, aspiring basketball hopefuls in the New York area can join Anthony for basketball instruction and fun at the 2012 Camp Melo for the first time.
The camp is open to boys and girls ages 7-18 and the two-day event will be held August 24-25 from 9:30 AM-1:00 PM at St. John’s University.
Anthony will also be joined by some of the top prep and collegiate coaches in the New York area to assist in teaching all aspects of the game.
Melo will be on site at camp to direct camp activities, provide instruction and give daily talks highlighting the finer points of the game of basketball and beyond.
Reese Hicks, Marketing Coordinator for Camp Melo had the following to say: “Carmelo and the Camp Melo team are very excited to be working with the youth of the New York area. We have worked with Carmelo in Denver for eight successful camps and look forward to starting in New York with a fun and amazing camp this summer.”
