the knicks only give him 5 million, why would you ask him to perform like a 15 million player?
just let him go and find another player you like.

@MattShetler @knicksnyk Alright. You should have been more specific then as to what aspect of the game he struggled in. With a line up of Carmelo, Amare, Lin it is hard to say who is the weaker defender. The honour probably goes to Stat his pnr defense is just awful. Melo and Lin are decent defenders although all three of them need to be a lot better defensively.

@knicksnyk which was my point because Lin struggled defensively against good guards. i'm not worried about him offensively, but while you are correct in the team playing bad defense. Lin was a part of that

some of his worst performances were turned in against the likes of the Boston Celtics, San Antonio Spurs, New Jersey Nets and Chicago Bulls. What those teams have in common is an elite floor general.

He played well against those teams considering that he had only played in like 10 games before that. His invidual peformance was not at issue and was not the reason we lost. We lost because of terrible defense we were giving up over 100 pts. Under linsanity we did not win solely because of him but because of our defense we were holding guys to 90 pts and what do you expect with a stacked defensive line up of Jared, Shump, Landry, Tyson and Lin. Lin could score all he wants and those guys would defend. Those games we lost under MDA we lost not because of lin (which i do not think you could say was his worst performances) his only worst performance really was his hornets game and the miami game. We lost those games cause we had a line up of melo stat tyson lin fields. In that list melo stat tyson are probably the weakest defenders during those games. You win championships based on defense and we were not defending as a team.

To be fair, Lin also did have his fair share of success against above average, and some elite PGs.

Two games against Deron Williams: 25 pts, 7 asts (breakout game), and 21 pts, 7 rebs, 9 asts
John Wall: 23 pts, 10 asts
Ricky Rubio: 20 pts, 8 asts (in a bad game at the time)
Jose Calderon: 27 pts, 11 asts (in the buzzer-beating win)
Jason Kidd/ Dallas: 28 pts, 14 asts
Kyrie Irving: 19 pts, 13 asts
Tony Parker: 20 pts, 4 asts (in a bad loss, however)
Brandon Jennings: 20 pts, 13 asts
Derrick Rose (where he did struggle some, naturally), but he still finished with 15 pts, 8 asts

I think those are pretty spectacular numbers for a player essentially in his rookie season. It was worrying how he struggled against the Heat and Celtics, but I think that had to do with nerves and fatigue as much as anything else. We saw him do well against a team like Dallas that was really physical with him and played him really tough.
