@phildemeo According to your criteria: winning and playoffs. It is reasonable because winning and playoffs create media exposure. If this is the case, why Melo is ahead of Dirk?

I chose my rankings on superstardom, as long as Kobe plays he will be a superstar. Deron and Love don't have the winning or playoff success to be called superstars nor the appeal league wide. When the Twolves are on the road, prices don't go up like they do when the Lakers are in. Even though Kevin Love is the best at his position, he is not in the same breathe as Kobe when talking about superstadom. It's all about what you consider a superstar! I know it's a different sport, but Josh Hamilton is probably the best player in baseball right now, but is he a bigger star than Derek Jeter?

@Scott Davis Kind of agree with you, but this kind of ranking is always argumentative and coming with personal taste.

For all of Kobe's greatness, he hasn't been the best player in the league for a few years now. And this season was one of his worst: poor shooting percentages, lower assist numbers, despite an incredibly high usage rate. He's not really deserving of top 5 players ever, let alone #2.

Likewise for Melo, who had arguably the worst season of his career. Guys like Dirk, D-Will, Westbrook, Love, etc. are all better than Melo, or at least for this past season.
