@buccos12 Yeah I don’t watch too much college ball, and I’ve only seen Davis once, but I’ve heard KG comparisons. Just seems like a heavy spotlight to throw a rookie into, who hasn’t so much as played a Summer League game – now he’s playing on a global level with the best athletes around the world and the 12 or 13 best NBA players in the league.

But, hey, good luck to him if he gets it. It would be exciting to watch

@Scott Davis I can buy the argument on not playing in the Olympics but of all the scouts I’ve talked to, many feel Davis is the best big man prospect since Tim Duncan.

I covered him during the tourney and he’s just a freakish athlete. I hear more and more talk that Davis will get that spot.

Don’t understand how Anthony Davis, a 19-year old who hasn’t played a minute of NBA basketball, could get a call to play for the Olympic squad. Especially over players like Andrew Bynum, Roy Hibbert, or even players like JaVale Mcgee or Brendan Haywood or DeMarcus Cousins or Kendrick Perkins. Any kind of size.

The team is especially hurt because LaMarcus Aldridge missed the end of the season with a hip injury, and now Chris Bosh may be out (if he was even invited).

A subplot to watch for: reuniting Carmelo Anthony and Mike D’Antoni, who’s an assistant coach. Heard a rumor that D’Antoni might not participate this year and take the summer off, which would be VERY telling of what went down between he and ‘Melo this year.
