I went with my brother to the Knicks and Blazers game and it was very exciting. I didn’t know what to expect from the Knicks knowing that D’Antoni resigned, but the Knicks came out firing and continued to do so throughout the game. But what was more impressive was the Knicks’s defense. I have not seen the Knicks play defense the way they did against the Blazers in a very long time.
In order for the Knicks to succeed, we need to play defense. This is how teams win championships. This is how the Bulls and Lakers won championships. If the Knicks can continue to play defense the way did played against the Blazers, we have a chance to move up in the standings and be a very dangerous team come playoff time.
D’Antoni was a good coach, but he was all about offense. His style of coaching has been successful in the past, but not enough to win a championship. I’m not sure how it will turn out with interim coach Mike Woodson, but one thing’s for sure, he does preach defense. I don’t know about you, but I sure miss the Ewing era when the Knicks’s defense was amazing. I’m looking forward to seeing how things will play out for the rest of the season. Will D’Antoni’s resignation be a wake up call for the Knicks? Only time will tell.
