The Los Angeles Clippers have officially claimed Chauncey Billups, who was placed on waivers earlier this week by the Knicks. The Knicks made use of the one time Amnesty clause made available to the team under the new CBA.
Billups had been warning teams with cap space not to claim him, giving him the opportunity to have his choice of possible destinations; the Clippers, it appears, did not get this memo. It will be interesting to see how this situation shakes down for the former Knick point guard, but the Clippers are confident that he will play, and be productive for the team going forward.
The Clippers have has an active day, pursuing Chris Paul–another former Knick target– earlier this afternoon, however the trade fell apart after David Stern vetoed another possible deal for the All-Star point guard.
