Carmelo Anthony and Chauncey Billups return to Denver for the first time as Knicks.
I do not know if Carmelo will receive the same treatment LeBron did when returning to Cleveland, but Denver fans will certainly give him a hard time upon his return. They probably will not burn his jersey, but I would expect a lot of booing every time he touches the ball. I was in Denver when the trade happened, and most people did not care. They did not think too highly of him. He obviously did not want to be there and let it be known to anyone who would listen. The Denver fans were more upset about hometown hero Chauncey Billups being traded. We also know George Karl had some parting shots at Melo after the trade. Melo will be on a mission to silence his former coach. It could be a night where throws up a 50 spot.
In addition to the return of Melo and Chauncey, the game has other exciting aspects to it. Knick fans will see former Knicks Danilo Galanari, Raymond Felton, and Timothy Moscow (Wilson Chandler is a restricted free agent so there is no guarantee he will still be in Denver). Additonally, these were the two highest scoring teams in the league last season. Neither teams play much defense either, so I can easily see both teams scoring over 120 points.
In last seasons match ups, both games were extremely exciting, with the Knicks winning both. They won in Denver 120-118 and at the Garden 129-125. Lots of offense, no defense. It should be the same when they meet again, except the faces on both sides will be different.
