Completely agree! Donnie has done an awesome job and Dolan had better extend his contract.

My complaints with Walsh are that he hired Mike D'Less and failed to go after Michael Beasley when Miami was giving him away for a bag of chips. Other then that, the man has done the impossible. Rebuilt this team in two seasons ... who the hell thought that was possible right after Thomas' firing???

If Dolan fires Walsh, only to replace him with Thomas, I'll never watch a Knicks game again. I'll stick to baseball. That's at least until the Nets become the Brooklyn Russians, then I can watch them beat Dolan/Thomas' brains into the hardwood every year ... hopefully. I mean the Nyets can suck forever right? Right?

Its not even worthy of a discussion. Walsh is currently the Knicks MVP without question. Finding Felton, drafting Fields, developing Mozgov.

Yes, we are barely over .500, but this is a HUGE upgrade over last year an we have a YOUNG YOUNG YOUNG team and Fat Eddy coming off the books and the chance to draft more and grow more.

Anyone who doesn't see this should be writing Bazooka Joe's comics, not hoops copy.

The Old Shark Walsh has earned my respect. He's an artful and crafty shark whose carved pools of cap space for streams of free agents to witch his row of teeth will devour.

At the beginning of the year, no one would have guessed how well the Knicks have played.

Landry Fields, a second round pick, has earned Rookie of the Month honors, leads all guards in rebounding and has become a player that can be counted on a nightly basis.

The Knicks had two second round picks and one of them was a home run.

Donnie Walsh has done a good job, made the Knicks a desired destination for free agents once again and has brought back excitmenet into the Garden.

Not sure what else he could have done this season.

I think the Ray Felton 2-yr contract is part of the key thing that Ziller missed: it's not that Walsh has just changed the Knicks into a slightly above .500 team, it's that he's ALSO provided the financial flexibility for the team to improve. Teams like Atlanta, Memphis and Milwaukee are/should be slightly above .500, but they don't have the cap space to improve. First we'll lose Curry, Azubuike & Roger Mason's contracts this summer, and then next summer we lose Turiaf and can either jettison Felton if CP3 or Deron Williams wanna come over, or hang on to Ray-Ray if he keeps balling.

It also seems odd to me that as a Sactown writer that he would think it's so easy for a franchise to start over. Like when the Kings decided to rebuild, they could only get rid of Chris Webber's awful contract for like Kenny Thomas' slightly less awful contract. They tried band-aids by signing Shareef Abdul-Rahim, Ron Artest and Bonzi Wells, but basically that was how Layden & Thomas ran the Knicks and it leaves you just bad enough to get awful draft picks while barely making/missing the playoffs. Now they finally have some hope for the future because they sucked enough to get some good high draft picks, but since Isiah traded away many of our draft picks that wasn't really an option for us. Plus one could say that trying to rebuild through the draft relies more on luck. If instead of Tyreke Evans and DeMarcus Cousins the Kings got Jonny Flynn and Wes Johnson, we wouldn't think they've got a great future. Likewise, another team which turned around quickly, OKC, did it because the Blazers chose Oden instead of Durant. If they'd gone the other way, OKC would likely still be a laughingstock. You could say us getting Amar'e involved some luck too, but being in NYC with the ability to offer a max, even if he said no we probably could've gotten Boozer then.

It ain't easy in two years to go from tons of grossly overpaid mediocre players who win 30+ games (hurting lottery chances) to surefire playoff team with the flexibility to grow.
