I dunno how much I buy that Larry Hughes convinced LeBron not to come here. I mean, Hughes isn't even playing in the league now and he hadn't been getting meaningful minutes in years so I doubt LeBron was outraged that D'Antoni wouldn't give Larry minutes.

I'm not a fan of doghousing players, but I doubt it really caused us to miss out this summer. I mean Wade had always wanted to stay in Miami and Bosh had always wanted to team up with either Wade or LeBron. Who else was there? We chose Amar'e over Boozer. Joe Johnson was given a ridiculous max contract by Atlanta so he had to stay. Same with Rudy Gay (& they could've matched his contract even if he tried to sign with us). One could argue that the next best players were then David Lee and Raymond Felton. And Lee would've stayed if we'd paid him -- he loved playing for D'Antoni & improved tremendously under him -- but instead we decided to send him to Golden State.

Problem with last years D'Antoni doghouse, he put vets and fan favorites in the doghouse, and in the press, with many who's contract was over at the end of the year. What happened? Players spread the word that this is not the "Player Coach" everyone thought D'Antoni was. Larry Hughes told good friend Lebron, stay out of here, David Lee said, here I am 6 8 playing center and I get a one year contract?
Nate Robinson sits a month while we watch the worst point guard in the NBA last year start until March. Players talk, talk often to other teams, so when D'Antoni played the doghouse game, and played it in the press, what did we get?
Nothing, except one player from D'Antoni's old team, just get ready for Patrick Ewing and next year, our only hope.

Orlando, you're right about the panic button and New Yorkers (btw, what kind of Knicks fan is named Orlando?). Although I think the panic instinct is a more deep rooted thing than Isiah. Us New Yorkers tend to be very critical about everything in life. And anxious about everything too. Then again on the opposite end we also tend to think far too much of ourselves too.

But after losing to woeful Cleveland (what was that, the only time they've won in the last 13 games or so?), it's hard to look at games against Phoenix and Portland and say we've got 'em. Particularly since both of 'em will have home court advantage. So I agree with part of your statement: We SHOULD win 2 games. But I can't include the "AT LEAST 2" part.

Basically the team's been fairly inconsistent (which can happen when you rely on offense rather than defense if your shot ain't fallin'). So I wouldn't be surprised if we went 0-4 on the trip or 4-0.

I think as Knick fans, we always have the panic button close by our side (& for good reason with the Isiah debacle). But even though we're going on a west coast swing that is not like the cupcake tour we had when the season started; We SHOULD win at LEAST 2 of those games. While I agree that the possibility of losing all the games on the road trip is plausible, I'd say it's unlikely. This isn't your older brothers Suns anymore. Nash is awesome but Carter is on the tail end of his career and I'd put the Knicks supporting cast against their's any day. Portland is betwixed in between. They selling one day, the buying. They have a talented roster but let's call a spade for a spade here. In sports there aren't any guarantee's but NY should have won the first meeting between the two, if it wasn't for our own follies. However this is a more cohesive team & I look for them to amend the lose earlier in the year. Can't believe I'm saying this but L.A might be the 2nd easiest to play now. That team looks old, slow, & are getting contributions from no one not named Bryant. Utah might actually be the toughest. Their home court is one of the best in the league, they play defense, & they have arguably the best PG in the league (I tend to vote Chris Paul). I don't think the knicks might steal two victories but I think they will earn them. Cross fingers !
