Oh, that’s points allowed on SI.com, that’s not defensive ranking. And yeah, I believe the Knicks should be 29th and the Twolves 30th, but regardless, due to the Knicks’ pace which allows far more shots, you can’t measure just based on points allowed.

But that doesn’t mean you might very well be right that D’Antoni will never win an NBA title.

The Spurs are 8-1 when their opponent scores 100+. They’re 18-0 when they score 100+.

The Celtics are 8-1 when their opponent scores 100+. They’re 15-1 when they score 100+.

The Lakers are 8-4 when their opponent scores 100+. They’re 16-2 when they score 100+

The overrated Heat are 1-4 when their opponent scores 100+. They’re 12-2 when they score 100+.

The Knicks are now 10-11 when they allow 100+ points and 14-6 when they score over 100.

The Knicks have a lot of talent on the roster but they must have better coaching if they’re ever going to compete come playoff time. After watching him in Phoenix and now in New York I firmly believe that Mike D’Antoni will never win an NBA title as a head coach.

I saw the Knicks defensive rank, as well as their offensive rank, on the Knicks homepage on Si.com. I’m curious though as to how the Timberwolves can be ranked as the 31st worse defense in the league when their are only 30 teams?

Well journalists saying the Knicks D is worst isn’t much of a definitive measure. Josh, do you know the web page of the SI.com rankings, ‘cuz I’d be into checking ‘em out.

Also, I kinda feel like if the Knicks have won half their games when opponents scored over 100, it shows that you can’t pay attention to points allowed. Like I bet if you look at like the Heat, Celtics, Bobcats or any top defensive team that when their opponent scores over 100 they’ve lost nearly every game.

NBA.com’s defensive statistics seem to be for rebounding, blocks and steals per game. Si.com, as well as several journalists, have stated that the Knicks rank last or second to last in (overall) defense.

New york gives up the third most points a night (107.22), and is 10-10 when opponents score 100+ points on them.

For the Knicks to win a title they’ll need the 1st or 2nd ranked offense (which they have) and a defense ranked in the mid teens. With that and Carmelo Anthony, I believe the Knicks can compete for a title.

I checked and the Knicks are listed at 20th in defense on NBA.com so we are not the worst Defense and we play a fast pace game leading teams to score more to keep up with the Knicks scoring so the defense is not that bad
