Stan Chin gives his view on last night’s Knicks game against the Boston Celtics:
Hey Knicks fans,
Big game last night… scratch that HUGE game last night. Win or lose, this game was a measuring stick, to see where the Knicks stand against one of the elite teams in the NBA.
Quarter by Quarter Thoughts:
Great opening quarter for the Knicks, storming out to an 8 point lead. 17 for Amar’e Stoudemire (someone must have told him it was the 4th quarter).
Danilo Gallinari is ice cold going 0-the half. No points. but the Knicks only lose a point off the lead. Good intensity. Both teams shooting well. Bring on the second half.
Up and down. Knicks build up the biggest lead of the night at 12 then almost give it back. Gallinari woke up and shot better scoring 11 in the quarter but his counterpart Paul Pierce kept pace with 11 of his own.
To open the 4th Rajon Rondo comes off the floor … good no call as Rondo pushed off as he turned his ankle. Bad no call on the drive by Felton with the score tied at 113. He was hit twice resulting in him hitting the floor without getting up, which gave the Celtics a 5 on 4 resulting in a Ray Allen 3 pointer. This game is as exciting as a playoff game. Pierce hits a shot giving the Celtics a 2 point lead with .4 to play. After the time out Stoudemire get the ball behind the arc… HITS THE THREE!!!!!
I was STOKED when Amar’e hit that three.
I was on my feet SCREAMING.
Then they took it away.
Replay shows he was just a tenth of a second late.
Knicks lose a heartbreaker.
But you know what… As I said before win or lose this was a huge game just to see where the Knicks stand, and you know where they are?
Like Amar’e says about himself, so can the whole Knicks team… Standing Tall and Talented.
Some random points for tonight’s game…
Stoudemire’s 39 gives him 9 straight 30+ games in a row but I would bet all that I own that he’d trade it for a 9th straight win tonight.
Gallinari 0 points in the first half, 20 in the second half. Its just strange for me to see him shoot the ball so badly for a stretch then look so good at times. He needs to attack the basket more like he did tonight.
Felton with 26 points and 14 assists continuing his all star level play.
The Celtics were giving up 86.1 ppg during their 10 game win streak… Knicks had 90 after 3 quarters. The 116 the Knicks scored tonight is the most the Celtics have surrendered in a single game so far.
That’s all for tonight… The Miami Heat are next on Friday coming off another win over LeBron James’ old team The Cleveland Cavaliers.
