They certainly have plenty of periods where they looked absolutely awful, but sadly only a few times where they actually looked good for a full 15 game stretch. Then again, during the long regular season most teams go through patches where they play great and patches where they're mediocre (if not downright bad).

My point though is that by looking at the strength of the schedule during a period when they make a multi-game run (be it good or bad), you'll get a far better sense of how many grains of salt you should take with it. Like based on the schedule, if they go 2-3 over the first five games, that would be far more impressive than going 4-1 over the next five. This should help you during the first 25 games have more of a sense if the team goes on a run as to whether you should allow yourself to believe/be impressed or not, thus saving you from future feelings of idiot-osity.

At Buckets, we don't just provide bball analysis, but also mental analysis of our readers' own minds, thus enabling them to develop a stronger sense of self.

You're welcome.

Hasn't that been the Knicks standard operating procedure ever since 2001? They'll look absolutely awful, put together a stretch of 15 good games, going 11-4 or something, getting your hopes up, then closing the season 3-27 and making you feel like an idiot for believing in the team. Pretty sure that's how it's been.
