Detroit mulling over signing McGrady

Remember When These Two Meant Something?

Out of nowhere the Detroit Pistons have apparent interest in signing Tracy McGrady. Although it’s not official, this could be McGrady’s last chance at getting signed to play anywhere this summer.

Obviously this move makes absolutely no sense going forward for the Pistons unless they can move Tayshaun Prince or Rip Hamilton very soon, which isn’t likely. Rip’s contract is awful and Prince’s isn’t much better.

Joe Dumars clearly has no direction for this team right now after partially blowing it up 2 years ago when he trade Billups for Iverson, but instead of finishing the rebuilding project he signed Ben Gordon and Charlie Villanueva to awful contracts and didn’t move Prince or Rip. His faith in Stuckey at the 1 was obviously another huge error because it’s been painfully obvious for a long time now that Stuckey is a 2 guard.

Dumars has dug himself quite a whole in Detroit so adding McGrady shouldn’t make it that much deeper, right?
