Once again the media is blowing something out of proportion in order to sell. It is clear what he meant. WTC was a tragic, horrible event. He is simply saying basketball is trivial in comparison however the media will treat iit as catastrophic as WWC.Sports writers are doing their best to make anything DWade says into news. Could have kept this one although we know it would be impossible for you media guys to do that.

Um, no. This was and still is an awful choice of words to make a point EVERYONE already understands.

He could made an analogy to any other event that brought about a lot of media attention but he chose to reference 9/11. It’s just awful taste like I’ve already pointed out and not something that needed to be said there is no disputing that.

Doesn’t suprise me that this article takes out of context Wades coments over the weekend…typical NYC trash talking. If Wade or LeBron had signed with The Knicks this wouldnt be posted on the site, but haters gotta hate and cry like Bit#$%@ over in Cleveland. The Knicks are still gonna suck, and Im gonna laugh when Carmelo resigns with Denver…keep dreaming with false sense of security, it won’t win you championships and the realization will kick you in the ass the same way The Heat will this season.

He was not comparing 9/11 to losing basketball games, but was instead commenting on the media’s overreaction to the outcome of sporting events. HE’S SAYING BASKETBALL IS NOTHING COMPARED TO 9/11. This is reading comprehension FAIL of the highest order.

Relax, guy. He’s clearly saying that if they go on a skid “you all [the media, sportswriters, bloggers] gonna make it” a HUGE story. Of the mouthbreathers among the sportswriting establishment (Mariotti, ESPN writers, et al) who are very prone to making outlandish comparisons for page hits, do you really put it past any of them?

In this light (a reasonable one), the comment is very understandable and not offensive.
