Yeah, the Hornets deal fell apart/has been put on hold, so they've still got cheap ol' Shinn who got booed out of Charlotte when the fans turned on him.

Yeah, I give him credit on the financial side of things but I'm pretty sure Wade, LeBron and Bosh would of played for any team that could financially afford the three of them.

And yeah I hope Pritchard comes here, but I doubt it. And I thought a few months back the Hornets got bought by a new owner who was willing to spend but maybe that hasn't gone through yet?

But as you say, Riley did make it possible. If he hadn't cleared the cap space so they could sign all 3, then LeBron might've talked with Bosh or Wade about going to a team like the Knicks or Bulls that had better supporting casts.

And ironically, it's rumored that Pritchard might get hired by the Hornets, so then you're right, we'd never get Paul in a trade. Though I suspect Pritchard won't take the job since they seem more about avoiding the luxury tax than winning.

Hold on, is Heatfan actually giving Riley the credit here? There is no doubt in my mind LeBron, Wade, and Bosh knew what they were doing this summer as long as Riley made it possible.

Anyway, as much as I'd like to see this happen I don't see Paul getting traded and Melo not taking the extension.

I'd rather us just focus on finding a GM like Pritchard who knows how to build through the draft and build a team the right way. I'm tired of this next summer garbage and rumors.

You're exactly right Heat Fan,

While I may be disappointed that y'all got that threesome, it is most definitely NOT tampering for players to talk. They're allowed to do that. It's only team executives who can't do it. Although of course under the table they all do it anyway. Like by June 30th the whole world knew LeBron's schedule of what days he'd meet which teams, but how'd that happen if teams weren't allowed to contact him to declare their intentions until July 1st...

I think probably one of the things that most bothers a bunch of fans/teams about the whole LBJ thing is that it appears he pretty much knew for a while what he was gonna do, but he strung along teams anyway. Like at least Wade and Bosh announced their decisions a couple of days earlier so that like Chicago had enough time to sign Boozer before another team 'cuz they knew they no longer had to keep cap space open for those two. I don't think New York was hurt by LeBron's delay, but I certainly feel for Cleveland.

Anyway, I'm with you: here's to hoping NYC gets its own Big Three and the return of epic Heat/Knick wars!

The bottom line is all the owners and GM's who are complaining would not say a word if they pulled of what Rielly did. Stern sayed there is no problem with players talking! It appears the Knicks are going to have a great Summer of 2011 if C. Paul keeps his word. If this happens it will be Heat Knicks in conference finals foe years to come...

I thought it was tampering to discuss players who are on other teams. I thought it was collusion if players discussed ot planned to get together on another team. Oh, its ok if is your team. Can you imagine if the Knicks got Wade, Lebron, and Bosh? I hope you get Paul and Anthony next year! It would be the old Knicks Heat rivalry again.

Stan,

You're definitely right: to make the Lord happy we must get this threesome.

As for the contract extension, the Nuggets have said they're willing to keep it on the table for the whole season, so I wouldn't be surprised if Melo waited a while to get a better sense of whether there will be a strike next year or if they come to an agreement on a new collective agreement in time, then he can see exactly how much he stands to lose. For instance, to make up completely out-of-nowhere numbers, if say under the new CBA they make 4 year contracts the longest you can offer, and say $15 million the highest starting salary, then Melo would realize if he doesn't snag the 3-year $65 mill extension he'll get a far worse 4-year like $65 mill contract. That'd be a lot of money to give up.

So while it's good Melo hasn't yet signed the extension, until he opts out next June 30th, it don't mean a thang.

I think that getting Carmello is a decent possibility as he has not picked up the extension on his contract. But that could just be because he got married. If he signs the extension I don't he is coming to NY.

Getting Paul though in a trade would probably require a 3rd team and also would probably mean Felton would be gone, Chandler or Galinari would probably have to be thrown in, and maybe one of the big men.

While I can't imagine Carmello leaving the 65 million extension on the table the new big three all took less money so the Heat could sign other players, so its in the realm of possibility.

Isn't a toast at a wedding the same as making an oath under the eyes of God? If it is then this has to happen.. we don't want Paul burning in the afterlife do we?
