Pravin,
I like the idea, but I'm not sure who that player would be with Barry retired. It ain't like there's an abundance of those types. Mike Miller's likely going to the Heat, plus he wants $5+ million and probably wouldn't come to a team like the Knicks to come off the bench. Championship teams can get a Brent Barry or Mike Finley to agree to those roles, but they don't usually join rebuilding teams like ours unless they get big $$.

And maybe Azubuike can be that player ('cuz after all, Wilson Chandler might start again, pushing Azu to the bench). Or maybe Will comes off the bench, and while he's not a great playmaker for himself, he can usually create his own shot. It could be a perfect "Microwave"-type role for him that'd allow/force him to be aggressive.

Also, if we start Turiaf (or hopefully Barron!), maybe, just maybe Eddy Curry will return and give us a little offense off the bench. The guy can't rebound, play defense or pass, but he is good at creating his own shot in the post...

Wouldn't you like to acquire a high-skill, do-it-all veteran on the bench in the mold of a Mike Miller/Brent Barry who can play the 1/2/3? I feel that that's what the lineup is missing especially when Toney D is in the game--he wasn't even remotely suited to playmaking last season and I don't expect him to improve all that much in between now and then, so it'd be nice to pair douglas with this versatile player.
