Up until that point, Phoenix didn&#039;t have to renounce Amar&#039;e&#039;s rights, and thus could&#039;ve done a sign-and-trade with the Knicks which would&#039;ve allowed for a 6-year $120 million contract (actually even more).  Now, however, you are right, because the Knicks will have to just sign Stat straight up as a free agent, and thus the max they can offer him is around $99 million.</description>
