Ramon Sessions agrees to terms with T’Wolves

Well, this certainly came off as a huge shock. Not only did Sessions sign with a team where he’ll be a back up, but to a team who just drafted two point guards in the top 10 of this summers NBA draft.

Sessions signed for 4 years and will make roughly 4 mil each year during that span. Walsh was looking for 3.5 a year, correct? Well, I can’t say I’m surprised Walsh just messed up once again. This is just another instance where Walsh exposes how he really operates, poorly.

Not only does this decision not make sense for Sessions, but this doesn’t make sense for the Wolves and the Knicks either. Sessions signing for 4 million a year is a huge steal and the Knicks will highly regret not picking up the tab and nabbing the young stud.

Sessions will likely floorish in Minnesota with Jefferson and company getting better with age. This team is going to be fun to watch next season, unlike the Knicks who are now resorting to Nate Robinson and David Lee to 1 year deals worth roughly 6 and 8 million.

Perhaps though this means Rubio’s rights could be traded to New York? Three quality PG’s on the same team is just ludicrous and I doubt the Wolves keep Rubio’s rights.

So, I’ll forgive Walsh on this Sessions blunder if he can somehow get Rubio’s rights even if it means he can’t come for another 2 years.

Gotcha

Sessions will start with the Twolves-he is better than Flynn. That said, I expect Sessions to start at the SG because Kahn said he liked how Sessions is able to play both guard positions. Name one other guard on the Twolves roster without looking it up? Exactly-they have nobody else who deserves alot of playing time. I expect Flynn to start with Sessions and Sessions playing PG when Flynn sits down.

Sessions is the victim of current market conditions but the market will eventually change and Ramon will be paid in line with his ability. Walsh, on the other hand, is worthless and should be relieved of his duties.

walsh is Fing dumb@ss…. y the hell would he wait for 2010……. wat if we get no one.. we need to make it to the playoffs in order to attract free agents… if he had signed ramon we could have made it….. nd ppl would thought they would have had a future with the knicks……. now i c the chances of the knicks making it to the playoffs is 0 percent……

  4. Andrew D says:

The Timberwolves will absolutely not trade Ricky Rubio. His value is unlikely to go down, as he continues to look strong against weak European opponents, playing for one of Europe’s best teams.

The earliest the Wolves would consider a trade is the moment they have a deal wirh Rubio to come to America–until then, all offers will be lowball offers. And the Knicks have nothing to offer the Wolves. No first rounder in 2010, and you can’t trade number 1s two years in a row, so an offer of picks in 2012 and 2014? Not all that exciting.

Meanwhile, the Wolves stole Sessions, and they’ll still be further under the cap next year, with more signed talent, than the Knicks.
