So it took a while, but Starbury has finally spoken out against the New York Knicks. He targeted D’Antoni which is expected considering their disturbing past relationship.
The New York Post is reporting Marbury is advising against superstars against signing with the Knicks next summer because he feels you can’t win a championship in D’Antoni’s system. Now, this may be true but it’s coming at a weird time. Nobody will remember this come next summer and what’s on Marbury’s mind is likely not going to persuade LeBron, Bosh, and the other options next summer.
I can’t say I’m at all surprised by this, but it’s just very disgruntling to have more bad things said about this system. We still haven’t seen D’Antoni gets his players in there and really can’t tell whether or not a future is indeed in our horizons. So for now, Marbury just shut up because even though you got screwed out New York doesn’t mean you need to try and tear down the whole team and any players thinking about playing that system. You still have lots of fans in New York, and people like me who believe you were wronged this season will turn our backs on you as a player and as a person if this persists. You are now on a championship caliber team and a big shot at a ring so focus on making that team better rather then worrying about your jagged past.
That felt good.
